Today, the fifth official lay day for ASP World Tour competition at Teahupoo, will be one of preparation for the World?s Top 45 surfers. A rising swell has reinforced predictions that Round 1 of the Billabong Pro Tahiti will commence tomorrow, Tuesday, May 13, 2008.

12 May, 2008 : - - Chad du Toit put on a brilliant display of surfing to take a well deserved win in the premier Under 20 division in the slightly cross-shore but still very workable one to one and a half metre waves at Big Bay in Cape Town today. The victory earned the young surfer R3500 and 1000 points to add to his series total.
12 May, 2008 : - - Todd Rosewall (Jan Juc) and Jess Laing (Phillip Island) have claimed decisive victories in the Quiksilver State Junior Titles held in clean one-metre waves at Jan Juc on the Surf Coast at the weekend. Rosewall entered the third and final round of the blue-ribbon U/18 Boys division as favourite and despite confronting stiff competition at his home break, the hungry field of competitors could do little to stop him.

11 May, 2008 : - - As of Saturday afternoon, EDT, the storm was centered near 17.5 north and 132.1 east, or approximately 600 miles south-southeast of Naha, on the island of Okinawa. Rammasun has strengthened rapidly over the past 24 hours and is now a super typhoon with sustained winds of 155 mph with gusts as high as 190 mph. The storm is moving to the north at 15 mph, and this motion is expected to continue over the next 24 hours. The storm currently looks very impressive on satellite imagery with a concentric tight eyewall and well-defined spiral banding over much of the storm.
